Person admits sexual offenses involving boys at summer program
An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the facility in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."
The prosecutor said materials including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the defendant proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the police once more.
She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
