With an announcement that pairs generosity with a clear warning, Washington has pledged $2 billion to support UN emergency relief operations. But, this contribution was accompanied by a direct warning for the global organization: it must "evolve or perish."
A Major Announcement Amid Wider Budget Reductions
The funding announcement was made amid substantial reductions in US funding for global aid. Further cuts are also anticipated from other major contributors including Britain and Germany.
